Our Online Learning System

Welcome to Irchester!

Welcome to Irchester Community Primary School Website. It is with great pleasure that I introduce our school to you.

Welcome To IrchesterIrchester Community Primary School opened in September 2002 after the amalgamation of the former Infant and Junior Schools. There has been a school in the village since 1848. We have built on those traditions and are at the heart of a caring vibrant learning community in the centre of Irchester. Recently building work has expanded the school to accommodate 420 pupils taught in single year groups with two parallel classes in each year.

The staff and governors at Irchester Community Primary School are committed to providing the highest quality of education and care for every child in our school. We believe this is best achieved through creating an open and positive partnership between home and school. Through working together we are able to provide the personalised learning experiences required to ensure every child is happy, successful and can develop to the best of their ability.

As a values-based education school we promote the values of kindness, care and respect, creating a strong positive ethos and happy environment with high standards of behaviour, consideration and cooperation with others.

We are unique in having a dedicated science space in our primary school, known as Lab 13. The lab is managed by the pupils, for them to devise experiments driven by their curiosity and imagination, ably supported by our scientist in residence. We are a centre of excellence for primary science; providing training opportunities for local teachers and workshops for children.

I trust you will find this website useful and if you have any further questions then please contact us using the ‘Contact Us’ button or feel free to telephone or visit the school; you will be most welcome.

Recent News from the Head Teacher

We are delighted to announce that BBC Terrific Scientific have awarded us School of Excellence status for our outstanding work. The children are now embarking on the second year of the project which involves undertaking university led investigations and sending in data for them to add to their body of evidence. The investigations last year covered a wide range of scientific topics, from the carbon value of trees to the Mpemba effect.

At present the children are investigating the effect of exercise on the brain and will be taking part in future investigations into flexibility in feet and conservation of electricity.

If you would like to find out more about this project then visit www.bbc.co.uk/terrificscientic
