For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Mrs Thom – I am happy to be your Family Link Worker and ELSA in school.

I am here to support parents and families with the ups and down of day to day life both inside and outside of school, take messages, support and signpost, and to always be available for a chat and a cup of coffee.  No problem is too big or too small, I will always try to help, and if I can’t help you myself, I will always try to find someone who can.

I am also a trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA).  All children need emotional support from time to time, whether it be anxiety, anger, bereavement, friendships, emotional regulation, relaxation, calming, social skills, self esteem, well-being and so on.  As the children’s ELSA, I am always available in school for children to talk to and most children know where to find me! On page two of this introduction is a copy of a leaflet explaining more about the more targeted ELSA support that is available.

How can you find me?

  • I am on the gate every morning from 8.30am – 9am.
  • With the exception of Thursday and Friday afternoons, I am always at school, so you can phone me on 01933 353848 any time. If I am not available, I will always get back to you as soon as I can. I can arrange to see you privately if you wish or just stop to chat to me in the morning.
  • Email me

Are you worried about something happening at school or at home, but not sure who to talk to?

Do you have questions but you’re not sure who to ask?

Do you want to leave a quick message at the gate for your child’s teacher?

Or do you just need someone to listen?

Areas I can help you with:

  • Passing messages onto teachers or help filling in form for example benefits/DLA
  • Signposting to SENCO if you have concerns about possible special needs
  • Finances, housing, adult mental health and wellbeing
  • Referral to the School Nursing Team, or Early Help Assessment Support and Guidance
  • Access to books which may help your child with a specific issue such as toileting, sleeping, nightmares
  • Private and confidential matter at home – for adults only
  • Parenting support – we all know how challenging parenting can be!
  • School events
  • Sign posting to other agencies that can help and advice such as Citizens Advice, Early Help, Advice Shop, Family Law, various support groups, Child Minding, County Council Services etc.
